some of you have no doubt read the feature on our boy rick “open bar” apodaca in yesterday’s bouncemag post. and if you haven’t, read it here: www.bouncemag.com
after winning polish mvp honors in 2006 and leading the italian league in scoring last year, rick is currently on top of the turkish league with his besiktas istanbul squad. but that’s just half the story. rick has gotta be one of the most approachable and coolest ballplayers out there.
yo rick, remember the time you drained 9 threes in a row at the magic show to get a telephone number? remember drinking beers for lunch at tazza d’oro the first time you visited k1x headquarters? remember the time we drove thru puerto rico with a telenovela actress for two full days, looking for photo locations and chilling at the dopest bodega ever? the midnight shoot in the hood? remember why we decided to change you nickname to “open bar” at the complex party in vegas? this list will be continued this summer no doubt, when the strictly business puerto rico editions hit foot lockers in new york and pr. check em out below…

k1x warrior rick apodaca and his besiktas istanbul squad have made it to the uleb cup’s final 8. without losing a single game! considered favorites to win the coveted european team cup, they take on crosstown rivals galatasaray istanbul in turin (italy) tonight. it´s do or die – we’re rooting for you, son!

PUERTO RICO TAKES BRONZE

Rick apodaca & co. took down brazil yesterday 111:107 to claim the bronze medal at the fiba pan American in vegas. The victory over the samba dancing south American powerhouse put an exclamation point behind a successful tournament for Puerto rico.
After establishing themselves as the number three team on the continent (behind only usa and argentina) pr had plenty of reasons to celebrate. and you know rick “open bar” apaodaca was calling the shots!

TEAM PUERTO RICO PUNCHES THROUGH!

Rick Apodaca had plenty of reasons to celebrate Thursday night. After beating Canada 72:66 Puerto Rico has clinched the fourth and final spot in the fiba Americas championship’s semi finals. And “pretty ricky” definitely played his part in the win hitting 100% of his shots from behind the arc. The question remains if his k1x Strictly Business Puerto rico edition had anything to do with that … Make sure to tune in at 4 p.m. on Saturday when the “Pride of Puerto rico” and his squad take on the mighty US national team and are looking for revenge for what happened three days ago. Kobe Bryant surely remembers rick and his sbs (see below).
