in 2005, k1x built a complete collection inspired by the people and players of sierra leone. this short clip shows the beauty of the west african country formerly plagued by civil war and sheds some light on the courage of a people who define what love for the game is all about. thanks to sir samuel and patrice for the soundtrack!

The first sierra leone collection made some serious noise in 2005, as k1x made a statement even before the likes of vh1, kanye west and Hollywood, who later recognized this beautiful country as a worthy subject for social discourse. social conflicts like blood diamonds and boy soldiers were incorporated into design details while especially sierra leone’s love for the game of basketball actually is where our “you can’t teach heart” philosophy was born. Finally, the follow-up collection is here. Fresh new color ways, innovative prints and reissued favourites make up for an even more exciting homage to the basketball players of sierra leone.

wake up call to show the brutal reality of sierra leone’s civil war. the “free world” closed their
eyes on this, but the 14 year old sidibay gives you some insight on what happened only a
couple years ago.
